On my first day of school I was very nervous. I thought what on earth am I going to achieve in this old school. There were rumors that there were ghosts and rowdies. And the place was meant for normal technical pupils. I believed them. I also thought how I am going to get new friends, as all of them were new to me. But after some get to - know – programmes I started having fun with almost all of my classmates. At the end of the first week of school a CCA orientation camp was organised. At the end of the camp I almost got to know most of my friends’ characters. My teachers were very fun to work with and taught us the lessons in different ways from my primary school. In fact secondary school is very different from my primary school life... I also had some new subjects like history, geography and home economics. These subjects were interesting. I enjoyed them very much. On the first day of school, Mrs. Yeo, our school principal welcomed all the secondary one pupils and gave a speech. Then on the second day I had no choice but to listen to her. Then I realized that she was trying to give all students a very crucial message, which involves education and other necessaries in our life. So from that day onwards I wait eagerly for her to take the microphone.
The school is a very huge place and is very spacious. Although it is very long distance from my classroom to the canteen and other school components I still enjoy it. I thought the school canteen food will be okay but when I tasted it, it was very delicious. The thing I don’t like about the school is the morning assembly venue, which is the parade ground. It is full of ants and insects. I think it is quite uncomfortable to be sitting on concrete.
After two weeks in the school I realized I could study wherever I am. And now I believe that all the rumors are false stories made up by cowards…
I am now proud to be a Hendersonian…
