Linda is a secondary two student in Henderson secondary school. Have you seen a scowl that last for an hour?
That description fits Linda who seems to be an expert in scowling! The classmates who study with Linda would not like to be with her or anywhere near her when she gets angry. Her volatile mood swings from one end to another. One moment they see her smiling, the next moment they see her snarling at someone!
One day a new girl called Mandy arrived. On the day of her arrival Linda’s class had a party at the Mac Donalds. The party was treated by her class teacher for doing well in the mid year exams. The class students were shocked with Linda’s reaction when Mandy walked past Linda and knocked her accidentally on her shoulder with her bag. All the students were enjoying their meal, Linda glared at the culprit after shouting, “Walk with your eyes open!” and demanded an apology. Mandy’s face blushed with embarrassment and I, who was beside her, urged her not to be too unreasonable, as it was Mandy’s first day in the school and the place was rather crowed. She refused to dismiss it as an accident and grumbled for at least half an hour over it. “Please” Mandy whispered to herself. Then at last Mandy had no choice but had to say a sorry.
Mandy than thought she could do something about Linda’s hot temper. The next day of school Mandy went to Linda and said politely,“ Hi Linda! As you know I am Mandy and would like to be your friend. Can I?”. Upon hearing those words Linda was dumbstruck as usually no one would like to befriend her due to her hot temper. Though Linda hesitated for a moment, she agreed to Mandy’s request.
Soon the both of them became quite close friends. Even though Linda would get furious unnecessarily, Mandy was able to deal with her.
Mandy was quite concern with Linda’s short temper, so she decided to take a step so that Linda would be able to control her anger. As a result she urged Linda to attend the school counseling session. Without giving it a second thought, Linda agreed readily.
After a few months of counseling, Linda managed to control her anger pretty well. All of Linda’s friends and family members were pleased to know that she had a soft heart too. As a friend Mandy is now proud for her deed.
